Who hasn’t thought of it – how to make money from surveys online. And offline too, for that matter! (Ever hear about a secret shopper?)
The next question is there any serious income possible from online or offline surveys?
Yes and no.
You can certainly make money from surveys, and it’s easy to do them on your schedule. However, unless you happen upon just the right program, you might end up spending more time than it’s worth. After all, who wants to earn $2 for 30 minutes of your time?
Make Money From Surveys Online
Here’s an interesting one — how would you like to get paid for viewing movie trailers? While the movie trailer surveys don’t typically pay much to start, they are fast and easy and a whole lot of fun! This is only really good as a hobby, though — not to make a lot of money.
Interested in something higher paying? How about an online focus group? These are teams of people who get together temporarily for a very specific purpose. These typically pay more than the standard survey and take a bit more time, but you can get paid handsomely.
But here’s the “catch” with the online focus group — they pick people based on demographic information. So if you’re a male aged 55 who lives in the south when the focus group wants women age 40 who live in the north…you obviously won’t be able to be part of that focus group.
So the trick is really locating a group you can participate in — which will take time at the search engines to find. Especially if you aren’t part of a “hot” demographic group.
Secret (Mystery) Shopper Surveys
These are more offline than online and you are paid in various ways. A good secret shopper, one with experience, can make a substantial amount of money.
If you love shopping, have an excellent memory, are very observant and can blend into your surroundings you may have the skills and abilities to become a well-paid secret shopper. And not only for clothes, appliances, gifts and the like, but also for meals at restaurants. Mmmm – yum!
The jobs you can qualify for are sometimes based on age and/or gender — it depends on what is being surveyed. But unless it’s specifically stated otherwise, you should be able to blend with the other shoppers. No drawing attention to yourself that would skew the results of the survey.
An excellent memory is key here, because you won’t be able to jot down notes, speak into a recorder, or anything else that would draw attention to yourself. Remember, the company hosting the survey is paying you for accurate information. And the more accurate and “real” the shopping experience, the better you can get paid.
